How to set up a proxy server on Steam

Why a proxy is needed for Steam

Some games on Steam are not available to residents of many countries. The system tracks your location by IP address, therefore, to purchase the game, you need to change the IP address. You can do this by using a proxy server: you will receive a new address that will be displayed when you enter Steam.

Proxies are also used to save on purchases. The same game may cost way differently depending on the region. For example, the game is cheaper in England than in your country, you can change your IP address to an England address and buy the product at a lower price.

Another feature that you can get from a proxy is the creation of multiple accounts on Steam. For each of them, you need to bind each IP address, and then the system will not understand that they all work from the same device.

Important: To prevent Steam from tracking your proxy, use reliable personal proxies. This is the only way to protect your account from blocking.

  2. Click the "Profile" tab and then select the "Proxy Servers" category.
